3 Detectives are tasked with finding out what happened to a missing reclusive author, who may or may not have been researching mythical beasts in the hills of Alaska. Not sold? They are doing this at a LARP. Still not sold? This is a full length feature movie about 3 Detectives that are tasked with finding out what happened to a missing reclusive author, who may or may not have been researching mythical beasts in the hills of Alaska. Well, if you aren’t sold yet check your pulse.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film by Pseudobook Productions and Black Noise Industries. It was awesome to see a mystery LARP being portrayed, as the staple usually is the fantasy genre of LARP. The underlying story about the 3 real life brothers kept me anxious to see what would happen next with their real life relationship, and uncovering the mystery of why they became estranged. That added dynamic makes the film feel a little deeper than just LARPers LARPing. As well as the "in-game” mystery that is being unfolded.

As for the LARP side of the story my favorite part was how the GM, who’s role was very small, (as it should be) cared for his players and cared for his game. He wanted to make sure the game had a satisfying ending for all players involved. He also showed that player satisfaction and a games success goes very hand in hand. Whether they meant to or not this was a perfect example of a GM who truly loves what he does and cares about the product being put forward.

I could not stop watching, constantly wondering what was coming next for not only the detectives, but the players playing them. The story was brilliantly weaved to show both in and out of game drama. Also, kudos to the writers and performers who successfully portrayed players who were Roleplaying, and not just acting. The Film felt fresh and funny, The jokes were witty and sometimes subtle to the point where you will have to and want to watch it a few times.

With that is say GO FORTH to your favorite digital media source like iTunes, Google Play, or Amazon and get this Movie, TLP approved.
